Why are they using so much energy? The consequences of global warming are faced by people like me who lives in india and millions others living in poorer nations. Its 42 C here already. Usa makes me sick.Is it true usa use 70% of world's total energy and doesnt even house 10% of world's population?
ya that is true and is a horrible figure
but most of the worlds population is still 3rd world
china has what idk 2 billion ppl and india has almost the same amount
but they are still developing
so even tho the figure is horrible it is a lil miss leadingIs it true usa use 70% of world's total energy and doesnt even house 10% of world's population?
The numbers are actually lower than what you have asked, but the U.S. does use up a ton of energy, however most of the industries and services provided by the U.S. require that much energy.
The reason you have ';global warming'; in India is because India was a less developed country, and in its industrialization and development, the country had to adopt primary economic activities (heavy industry) which causes greater pollution than the services and lighter industries that operate in the US do not pollute as much. The higher population density and increased amount of motor vehicles in India also contributes to your rising temperatures. Energy consumption is not directly related pollution.. neither is population, although it can play a critical role in pollution and energy consumption
It is more meaningful to relate a country's energy use to it's
productivity rather than the number of people living there.
North Korea, for example, uses very little energy per person,
yet the country can hardly feed itself. By contrast, the US
consumes a lot of energy per person but is a major exporter
of agricultural commodities.
USA imports almost 70% of the oil it consumes.
That may be where you heard the 70% figure.
Might it be your misunderstandings that make you ';sick';?
no it's not true, it's more like we are 5% of the population and use about 26% of the world's energy, still not good but not as bad as you say
Now imagine the same percentage of India's or China's population enjoyed a modern, comfortable lifestyle as in the USA. This is not meant as any kind of defense for our habits, just an illustration. India has more than 3 times the total population of the USA, that would put India well past the 70% you cite in your question.
It is true that developed nations are responsible for present global warming. In the past rapid Industrialization that occurred in these developed nations has polluted the earth. Now developed nations are urging the so called developing nations like India and China , Brazil to halt economic growth.
