i want to make a recovery cd using acronis true image, but i want to be able to test it in a closed environment (i don't want to nuke my hard drive for nothing). so i installed windows xp on a virtual machine so that i could create my image from that. after i test it on my virtual machine i will use it on my actual hard drive. is this a good idea? what possible issues could i encounter?
thanks in advance. Is it okay to use acronis true image to make a disk image on a virtual machine (virtual pc)?
Sounds good. I try to break everything serious on a VHD before inflicting it on the host.
Hmmm - as long as you can write to CD from the virtual box. I've never actually tried that. Nope, I can't. Best to try writing to CD first because USB is not an option.
It should also be possible to write to 690MB files on the host and burn those files to disc since reading discs is not a problem.
