Is it true that you should use oatmeal shampoo on Labrador Retrievers?

A vet tech told me that I should buy shampoos that have oatmeal in them due to normal shampoos take the oil off their skin and they need that since they have two coats of fur or something. He said it will make them itch and you will see their dandur more often if you don't. I have been using it and there are no problems or anything. I just wondered if it's true. Also, please only answer if you are old enough to live alone or drink alcohol, (Whichever is older in your state), Thanks. Is it true that you should use oatmeal shampoo on Labrador Retrievers?
Oatmeal shampoos (for dogs) are mild enough to use on most dogs, just be sure to let the shampoo sit on the dog for about 10 mins, and rinse very thoroughly afterwards. Bathing the dog in cold water is better, as the pores will not open as much, and therefore will be less irritated.

Brushing the coat well before and after bathing with a good quality brush will help remove the dead and loose hair from the dogs undercoat.

Another option is using Relief Shampoo and Rinse - available from veterinary clinics. These are very mild and should help with the dander problems. Obviously, you wont see immediate results, these shampoos are made so that you can bathe weekly if your vet recommends it.

Remember, if you use a topical flea prevention - Advantage/Tix, Frontline, Revolution, etc. Be sure to wait 24 hours after bathing to apply and make sure the liquid goes on the skin and not just on the hair. After bathing with any shampoos, the oils in the coat and skin are depleted somewhat, and these topical flea products work by spreading throughout the skin with the help of the natural oils.

Ask your vet what they recommend for your dogs skin. there are several prescription shapoos for various skin issues.

Good Luck!Is it true that you should use oatmeal shampoo on Labrador Retrievers?
I used to have a lab and whenever I used the cheaper stuff in a pinch, she shed way more and she had terrible dandruff. Also, my mild allergy to pet dander went crazy!!! I soon figured out the correlation and stopped using anything but the oatmeal shampoo.
LMAO!!!!
