My wife and I are taking a vacation to Pigeon Forge Tennessee in July and I wondered if we would have to spend more on gas because its in the mountains or will the bill for gas be the same?Is it true that you use more gasoline going up a mountain than just on a normal highway?
Yes but you get it back going down hill.LOLIs it true that you use more gasoline going up a mountain than just on a normal highway?
Hills will have an effect on you MPG. Your engine will be working harder to get all that weight up the hills. Also altitude has an effect on MPG, oxygen is thinner. Turbo diesel engines are the best to use in hilly high altitude areas. I know from living in the mountains for awhile.
It will be more, it's more stress on the car. Think of it this way, does it take you more energy to walk upstairs?
