Whats the best way to preserve gasoline, I read that after 90 days its no good to use, is this true?

I was reading the instruction manual for my blower/shreader and it says to get enough gas that you'll use it within 30 days (this is for a 2 cycle oil mix engine). Later it said that after 90 days the gas is no longer any good, so I'm lost. Does the gasoline go bad after 30 or 90 days and do these preservative additives you can buy work to preserve the gas?








Lastly, I use one container/mix of gas for a couple of 2 cycle applications like my chain saw, shreadder/blower and edger. One of the manuals says to use regular gasoline for the mix another says to use medium to super. Gas will deteriorate after a month or so and will build up varnish which doesn't burn like gas and can gum up passages in the carb of the engine---I always put a fuel stabilizer in the gas right away when I fill up the gas can and it will be good for a year per directions....parts stores or hardware stores carry it. Just use plain old regular gas not premium. And try to buy ';ashless'; 2-cycle oil for mixing also---it doesn't form deposits in the engine like other oils and makes them run better, longer.

Gas can go bad. It starts to break down and won't burn as well.





Go ahead and use the cheapest octane for your mower, it doesn't make a difference.
Probably 30 days for the mixed gas and 90 days for gas that does not have an oil mix.





There is a preservative that you can add to gas that prolongs the shelf life. See your auto parts store.





I usually buy gas and after a month or two put it into my car and buy fresh for lawn use so it will last another month or two.
Put stabil in your fuel when it's going to be sitting up, use the cheap gas, we are not talking high compression engines.
