Is it true that they use seaweed to create ice cream?

I'm just wondering about this, because I bought some ice cream one day and under the ';ingredients';, it said seaweed. If they really use seaweed, can you further explain how they create ice cream using seaweed?

And please, no websites or links. Thanks XDIs it true that they use seaweed to create ice cream?
Yes, they use seaweed in ice cream---and in MANY many many other foods. It is not normally listed as seaweed, but probably under it's chemical name. The reason why they use it is because it is a natural thickener-----like guar gum or maltodextrin.

If you are creeped out by the idea of seaweed in your ice cream try buying a natural ice cream that contains only cream, eggs and sugar----no artificial thickeners or emulsifiers *(like seaweed)Is it true that they use seaweed to create ice cream?
Yep. It's called Carrageenan. And it's in just about all manufactured (not homemade) ice cream. It's added to increase viscosity. Which basically means it makes it thicker and keeps it from getting watery.
If you see carrageenan gum listed as an ingredient, that's seaweed, too. It's actually in Yoo Hoo chocolate drink, as well. It's a thickener.
not really but pork is more commonly used ingredient.

i rather have seaweed than pork product any day.
yeah

to thicken up the ice cream

also to give it some pazaz
well they do, but mostly to thicken the icecream, instead of adding more trans fat....
