Is it true Americans use more commas than Brits?

If so, what are some examples of places where Americans add commas? I lived in the UK for 2 years I never realised this.Is it true Americans use more commas than Brits?
Dude, as a Brit, and also, as you may or may not know, but this is a true fact, as a lover of the old faithful comma, I use commas quite a bit, that is to say that I use them, commas, that is, probably more than is, say, necessary, but, I do, as it happens, have lots of American friends, and, as yet, I haven't compared the comma usage between the two nations, but that is not to say I won't, for now my curiosity, nay my down right nosiness, has been intrigued, and that, my friend, is thanks to you, so thanks.Is it true Americans use more commas than Brits?
They seem to use more of EVERYTHING!!

Well, my friend, that may be true, however, I, for one, do not punctuate as often as most people.

I haven't noticed this myself. I thought we all had the same punctuation rules, you know, a comma before a coordinating conjunction that combines two independent clauses, in direct address, setting off misplaced modifiers, interrupters, used in a series, after conjuctive adverbs, etc.
I think so, but I'm really not sure, probably because as an American, I'm rather unintelligent.
